GHD Design - Wellington Office
The Wellington GHD fit-out began with a mostly neutral palette, making reference to previous GHD precedents. For us a sense of place and making reference to the Wellington harbour & bush laden hills was of utmost importance.
The palette works as one with different zones being created by using different combinations of materials and finishes chosen due to differing use and function of the spaces. Texture is a very important part of this, with materials displaying veins, crevices and grains. Also the contrast between rough & smooth.
The overall idea was for the space to feel tactile and ambient. Some spaces feel subtle and calming while others contrasting and stimulating.
Cultural advise and design - in this case by Manukorihi Winiata of Toi Digital - was a very important part of the process both with the strong foundation of a sense of place and the use use of materials that could be carved into or filmed over.
